Dr. Amelie Legg grew up on a hobby farm in rural upstate New York where she developed a love for animals early in life. Befriending and adopting a stray cat despite her parents wish, whistle training her flock of egg laying hens, and riding her horse for hours every day were just a few ways Amelie passed her time during the summer growing up. While in high school, Amelie’s interests shifted away from veterinary medicine as she was a successful track and field athlete, receiving a scholarship to pole-vault at an NCAA DII university, in Worcester, MA. During her undergraduate studies, she quickly realized she missed spending her time outside and around animals, so she decided to pursue a degree in veterinarian medicine after obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2020.
She was accepted at Ross University, and moved to the Caribbean, where she spent 2.5 years studying, and enjoying the beach. She developed a love for teaching after having the opportunity to participate in the tutoring program for veterinary students as a teaching assistant (TA) for multiple classes. She completed her training at Colorado State University, where she gained valuable knowledge in small animal medicine, and further solidified her passion for teaching. She also learned what decent skiing conditions were like after spending ten years riding on the ‘ice coast’.
Dr. Amelie’s favorite part of veterinarian medicine is having an opportunity to not only create relationships with her future animal patients, but to help guide their owners in making educated medical choices. She has an interest in surgery, internal medicine, and animal physical therapy/rehabilitation. Outside the clinic, Amelie enjoys skiing, hiking, and spending time with her two cats, Mouse, and Piglet, whom she adopted from the Caribbean.
